Four-Star Ex-University of Arkansas Wide Receiver Jaquayln Crawford Remains a Transfer Portal Option for the Oklahoma Sooners to Pursue

According to Andrew Ellis from 247Sports, four-star Arkansas wide receiver Jaquayln Crawford entered the transfer portal on August 20, 2022.

Before entering the transfer portal, he had committed to the University of Arkansas. Since then, wide receiver Jaquayln Crawford has remained uncommitted to a new program.

But his long wait may soon be over as wide receiver desperate teams such as the Oklahoma Sooners look to reinforce their wide receiver rooms.

The Oklahoma Sooners recently lost five-star wide receiver Theo Wease, Jr. to the transfer portal and are in desperate need of a lengthy veteran wide receiver.

It will be interesting to see Oklahoma Sooner’s head coach Brent Venable’s strategy going into year two. He hails from Clemson where some would say Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney has the most ignorant transfer portal policy in all of college football, as he has repeatedly bashed the idea of adding veteran college players (for some reason?). In Brent Venable’s first year as head coach with the Oklahoma Sooners, he was not afraid to use the transfer portal, but it remains to be seen if he will use it as much as he did in his first year.

Hopefully Brent Venables and Oklahoma Sooner’s offensive coordinator Jeff Lebby can find a proven lengthy veteran wide receiver to replace Theo Wease, Jr. Their existing veteran wide receiver Marvin Mims struggled mightily throughout stretches of this past season as he was plagued by drops and inconsistency. Furthermore, wide receiver Marvin Mims lacks the size of an ideal “jump ball” wide receiver.

If the Oklahoma Sooners do not pursue four-star wide receiver Jaquayln Crawford, then hopefully they have someone else in mind to fill that veteran lengthy wide receiver position which is so coveted to a downfield attack-style offense. If current Oklahoma Sooner’s quarterback Dillon Gabriel stays with the Oklahoma Sooners and avoids the transfer portal, he would certainly benefit from such an addition.

As always, we wish all student-athletes the best in their future endeavors and professional athletics aspirations.
